Screen Aperture Configuration Scheme
Agricultural straw drum screens support differentiated aperture designs to accommodate diverse processing requirements:
1. Shredded and pulverised material — 2mm standard aperture
Applicable Scenarios:
Finely shredded straw (e.g., concentrate feed for cattle/sheep), straw pelletising feedstock, biomass pellet fuel, etc.
Requires strict control of particle size uniformity to ensure subsequent pellet formation rates or feed palatability.
Functional Value:
Separates impurities (e.g., soil, grit), enhances material purity, and reduces raw material ash content.
2. Whole-Stalk Processing — 6mm Large Mesh
Suitable Applications:
Direct screening of whole stalks (e.g., forage grass, corn stalks prior to silage preparation), or scenarios requiring retention of longer stalk segments (e.g., coarse cattle feed, straw mulching for soil return).
Rapidly removes substantial impurities from whole plant material.
Functional Value:
Allows impurities under 6mm (e.g., soil, grass clippings) to pass through the screen, retaining whole plants or coarse straw segments up to 26mm.
Enhances screening efficiency, suitable for high-yield operations (e.g., rapid processing of fresh straw during farm harvest seasons).
3. Flexible Screen Aperture Customisation
Available Range:
Standard apertures: 1–10mm (customisable in both circular perforated mesh and square wire mesh).
Special requirements: For bespoke solutions such as elastic screens or stepped aperture distributions, provide material characteristics (moisture content, fibre length) and processing objectives for tailored design.
Customisation Examples:
Poultry feed processing: Requires 1–3mm fine apertures to produce uniform straw powder, preventing coarse particles from affecting poultry intake.
Biomass briquette fuel: Requires 10–20mm apertures to retain medium-sized straw segments, enhancing briquette density and combustion efficiency.
Straw fertiliser screening: Requires 30–50mm screen apertures to separate uncomposted straw clumps for return to fermentation tanks.
Selection Recommendations
Prioritise Process Compatibility
For production lines incorporating ‘shredding → screening → baling’, select 2mm apertures for shredding stages to ensure pellet feedstock meets ash content standards.
For direct processing of whole straw (e.g., silage chopped then screened), 6mm screen apertures balance impurity removal efficiency with straw integrity.
Precautions for Moist Materials:
High-moisture straw is not recommended for use.
